Sharing my experiences on the first ever participation in the Global Photo Walk Phenomenon – Scott Kelby’s World Wide Photo-Walk
“On the first Saturday of October each year, photographers and enthusiasts around the world get out their cameras and meet up at a designated location in their town to walk around and take photographs, socialize, make new friends, win prizes, and be a part of a great cause during Scott Kelby’s Worldwide Photowalk®.”
This was my first time joining such a photo walk. Thanks to team Pixel connection, the organizers for the event along with Sam young Studios and Canon, who also happened to provide a preview of their now launched mirrorless – Canon EOS R on this day.
The event was flagged off at the heart of the city – Public square where after a quick group photo (photo at the end of this post) we had our beautiful model Kylie dressed in her Ballet attire pose for the entire group.
Walking through the streets of downtown Cleveland with the diverse and beautiful neoclassical architecture looking down at us, we were showered with ample photo opportunities as our model was all go for giving the best poses.
Along the way were some interesting Art installations like this one said to be World’s largest Rubber Stamp created by Claes Oldenburg and his wife Coosje van Bruggen.
or this beautiful fountain known as the Fountain of Eternal Life or War Memorial Fountain
With the sun almost set and the sky bursting out with hues of golden and oranges, we arrived at the lake side Voinovich Park for the final showdown.
Here we had a team of fire performers waiting already. They gave us a unique and wonderful show with fire and lights. Their acrobatic skills and expertise was praiseworthy. you can check their work on their Instagram handle @array_of_light.
The entire walk was around 3 hours and by this time I had roughly 500 RAW images on my card. That meant another 3 hours sorting through them and then probably 3 weeks editing the best of the lot.. huh !!!
Have you ever joined a photo walk. Share your experience of a memorable photo-walk with me as comments below or connect over Facebook or Instagram to discuss.
And Finally, the Group Photo !!!
