GLIMPSES from the ongoing (June 10– June 13, 2015) Bengal Mango Festival.
The West Bengal Department of Horticulture and the Food Processing Industries has organised the Bengal Mango Utsav at the Shahid Minar Ground, Kolkata from the 10th to the 13th of June, 2015.
This one of a kind festival has brought mango producers and sellers from all over the country on a single platform and for us the Mango Loving – ‘Aam Aadmi’ this is like a treasure hunt with hosts of options and varieties to choose from.
Apart from the regular varieties like Himsagar, Langra, Laxmanbhog and Fazli there are also the ‘exotic’ ones like Sarenga, Bhabani, Ranipasand, Mallika, Alfonso, Himam Pasand etc are not so readily available in Kolkata.
Check out awesome display of variety and flavor.
Apart from the Mangoes, there is also a sweet stall by Nalin Chandra Das – serving some of the ‘mangolecious’ sweet delicacies.
Donot deprive yourself of the ‘Aam Doi’ (Mango Yoghurt) or the Mangolini ( a 3 layered Sweet – with a layer of sandesh sandwitched between layers of mango jam and mango pulp)
Didn’t come prepared enough to take home a kilo or more of mangoes ?? Don’t worry – take home one of these instead – Mango Squash, Pickle, Jam etc from the Town of Malda.
So as you read this post you should still have some considerable amount of time to grab that ‘Bazarer Thole’ ( Big Shopper) and run to this one of a kind Festival and bring home some lip smacking, delicious, juicy – ‘King of Fruits’ and beat the summer heat as you wish – Mango Shake, Mango Slice, Mango custard, Mango Chatni ……
Don’t Just Keep Thinking… Go !!!
Don’t be Selfish !!! Don’t deprive someone from the taste of the Great Indian Mango – Please Share this post 🙂
